I began my Martial Arts studies in 1985 with shotokan Karate, after a couple
of years I went to see a kickboxing class at the national college of martial
arts in kings Cross, this cemented my interest in this art and began training
privately under Sensei Rafael Nieto, he was the current world champion and took
me under his wing, I went part time at work and trained five days a week for
five years. After obtaining my black belt in 1997, I opened my first MCR
Kickboxing school in 1998,which ran for six years.
In 1998 I started my jujitsu training under Sensei Barry Harte, I had been
training for a number of years in the martial arts and thought id seen
everything, I left an hour later very humbled realising that jujitsu was the way
forward for me.
After seven years of hard training and excellent tuition I graded to black
belt on the 19th of June 2005, I achieved my 2nd Dan in 2007
I continue with with my development in this art, but more recently began
training in Wing Chun, I have found it works hand in hand with jujitsu.
In February in 2006 I taught on the annual Mushin Budo course for I hope the
first of many times
In November 2006 Sensei Mark opened a Ju Jitsu club of his own, and is
the chief Instructor of Hakudakan Ruislip, which will offer the same high level
of tuition and standards and the Hakudakan syllabus with Sensei Harte's blessing
and support.
